Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Training for California

RBS Training

This course is approved by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) for alcohol service in California.

​

If you are a server of alcohol in the state of California or a a manager of alcohol servers, you are required to have Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.

​

This Responsible Beverage Service training course will help you prevent:

  • Underage Drinking

  • Alcohol-related incidents, such as injuries, property damage, public disturbances, and illegal activity 

  • Damage to businesses, such as fines, closings, loss of liquor licenses, and lost jobs.

Steps for RBS Certification

1.

Register as an Alcohol Server with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and received your Server ID number.

2.

Register for and pass this Responsible Beverage Service Training course.

3.

Pass the official state certification exam.

Course Content

​This course incorporates all Responsible Beverage Service training course curriculum requirements set forth by the state of California [in Assembly Bill 1221]. 

The topics covered include the following:

Responsible beverage service
purpose and policies in California

Alcohol impairment

Social impact of alcohol sales

Alcohol absorption and metabolization

Underage drinking and checking IDS

Law enforcement, crimes,
liabilities, and penalties

Mixing alcohol with medications
and other drugs

Preventing overconsumption of alcohol
